SCAR, the Colombian high performance computing research seedbed qualified for the ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge 2026 final in Wuxi, China
We represent Colombia in the global elite of HPC (High Performance Computing). We are ranked among the top 25 teams in the world for the grand final in Wuxi, China.
WE ARE SCAR
The High Performance Computing Research Seedbed was born from a firm conviction: Colombian talent can compete with the best universities on the planet.
We combine physics, mathematics, and software engineering to solve the toughest HPC (High Performance Computing) challenges. This year we proved it: we qualified among the top 25 teams in the world for the ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge 2026.
Now we need to get to Wuxi, China. And for that, we need your support.
THE CHALLENGES THAT
TOOK US GLOBAL
Three technical challenges that proved our capabilities to the ASC judges.
World Model
with DDIM
We implemented and optimized for distributed execution a generative world model using Denoising Diffusion Implicit Models. The challenge demanded minimizing inference time while preserving the highest synthesis fidelity.
Black Hole
Simulation
We ran a high-fidelity simulation of black hole dynamics, solving general relativity equations in a distributed MPI environment with efficient memory and node-load management.
HPL & HPCG
to the Limit
With High Performance LINPACK and HPCG, the goal was to reach the highest possible GFLOPS under a 500 W power cap. Every network, memory, and compiler parameter was carefully tuned to extract maximum hardware performance.
THE PEOPLE
BEHIND THE RESULT
Students determined to represent Colombia on the most demanding HPC (High Performance Computing) stage on the planet.
